Pulau Pangkor

As i told you earlier my hobby is financial, travelling and photography.
so this entry for helping you guys plan on a trip.

If been to Pulau Pngkor in august 2009
Actually is an unplanned trip where me and my friend just take our car and off to lumut due to H1N1 holiday at UiTM.
Pangkor is quite a nice to go as they open every year and not to affected by the monsoon.

1st day we arrived we took ferry from lumut. From the places that i went, Pangkor have the cheapest ferry fare.
RM10 return fare.
And there are quite a lot trip so its quite convenient.

Once we arrived there, we go straight to our chalet. My friend suggest it as they know somebody there.
The chalet is nice as we have the sea view.Actually i forget the name of the chalet.LOL.
The chalet cost us RM120 per night for 4 pax.
Which mainly RM60 for two nights per pack.

A lesson to learn actually, we didn't booked the room, so we have problem in getting room, we have to wait for 1 hour to make sure whether there is a room for us. But luck on our side, some of their customer have to last minute postponed their trip.
So if you wanna go for a trip, at least booked your room.

We didn't do much activity in the first day, just swimming in the sea, and rent a bicycle around the island.
The fare for renting the bicycle only RM5 per day.

The chalet have a cafe but they only cater if you take their packages. But not to worry as they are a lot of warung near the chalet. The food there is quite expensive if you compare in KL, but of course it is an island. My expense on food is like RM30 for two days.

On the 2nd day, we go for snorkeling trip. The cost for snorkeling is RM20 per pax.
But i think, Pangkor does not offer you the best view for snorkeling, but its quite okaylaa~

Nothing to see there, there are not much coral but there a lot of colorful fish though.
The trip is about for 3 hours and we go about 2 places.
Back  at the chalet we play the banana ride. It was SUXK~
hahahahahaha. Its an awful and we have to pay RM15 per pax.

That night we ask the cafe to handle  BBQ for us, it was AWSOME!!!
It cost us RM200 for 9 people.
The seafood was fresh and there a lot!!!

On the third day before we take the ferry, go and shop a liitle, Pnagkor is famous with their ikan bilis and sea product, iys quite cheap and really fresh. I spent about RM50.

So here the budget overall budget per person is about RM220 and for transport if u coming by car mainly RM160 per car for oil and some tidbits, which mainly RM40 per pax.

Total expense is RM260 including shopping. Yeah its cheap isn't it!!!
What you waiting for plan for your trip, have fun and see the wonderful pangkor :)

Save some for rainy day.

Hello guys,i heard this proverb quite many times, as it same goes like 'sediakan payung sebelum hujan'.
This saving is different from my last entry which is said about investment, don't get confuse with it kay =).

This topic is save some of your money for emergency account (E.A), you'll never know you might be needed it to pay summons ticket, fix your car, or have to but ticket for balik kampung. For student lets start have your E.A.

In saving for emergency, im gonna goes with 5% rules. Always saved 5% of your total budget.
Let say you you receive every semester 4000 per semester.
1) Put aside 5% of the total 4000 for emergency used in future which is 200
2) Then let say monthly you budgeted 300 per month, make sure not spend it all, use the 5% rule again, so every month you should have in your E.A about 15.
3) Even, when you plan to go shopping and in your hand there is about 200, make sure put aside 5% to your E.A.
4) REMEMBER. This E.A is mainly for emergency. Buying things on sale is not emergency okay. LOL

Can you really used your E.A?
For a student, my advise always make sure you E.A have about 500, then only the extra you used it.Make sure you keep it higher than 500. ill used my extra for my travel account.Try to maintain it, yeah why not the extra you invest in ASB then =).
Then you can kill two birds in one stone invest and saving.

saving isn't enough.

early in the semester when me and my friends receive our scholarship, one of them said,
"kalau kita simpan dalam 1000 satu sem, dah dapat 8000 grad nnti boleh buat byr deposit kete kan."

i totally agreed with it, but all i know only 2 out 8 really saved every sem. LOL

but thats not my point, what i wanna highlight here rather than saved why not invest the money.

The simplest investment you can invest in is ASB, a zero risk investment, because owned by the government.
But ASB has a minimum returns for about 6-8%. If every semester you invest 2000 per year for 4 years, you will get +-9500 if 7% returns per year.

2000            x 1.07 =2140
2140+2000  x 1.07 =4430
4430+2000  x 1.07 =6880
6880+2000  x 1.07 =9500

If you want a higher returns try and invest in PUBLIC MUTUAL one of the well known unit trust.
My mom invest about 1000 with my cousin who is a agent, and my mom get a 30% returns~
Take if 20% returns per year. You can get a profit 4538.
2000            x 1.2 =2200
2200+2000  x 1.2 =5040
5040+2000  x 1.2 =8448
8448+2000  x 1.2 =12538

But i don't know about public mutual specifically, so ask their agent before invest in it.

For the investment that i heard have a quite bad performance is CIMB mutual fund. This is just what i heard no fact at all okay, so do your research first.

For those who are risk adverse just saved in ASB then. Your money is secured by the government : )

okay as for sum up
lets change the idea of SAVING to INVEST.
Help your money grow.

Plan for your trip

okay as i mentioned before im gonna post bout the trip thing yup~
first thing first plan where your dream vacation.
my advise, choose places where you can minimize your accommodation expense.
accommodation is the most costly, so it is a big advantage if you can minimize it.
go to places where you have friend there.
if you are going to places in asean like Indonesian, the accommodation wont be to costly but if you are going to Europe, better find a friend there.

orait, after planning your destination it is time for you to saved up.
have your time frame. tabled your savings in one or two years.
when it comes to saving, you really need to discipline your self.
the easiest way give your savings to your mom!!!!
thats really gonna help guys.

okay thats all i think.
next im gonna put some info on the places and the cost so my reader can saved and plan well =)
